| I saw that movie too I like when fate/destiny/god is cast as the enemy I liked this movies personification of that too But, again, the ending disappointed me Its a deus ex machina, its the very deffinition of deus ex machina The chairman couldve done that at any point I would accept it with an explanation like "well they had to go through all that for him to do that" but no, they said that the plan had been that way from the beginning, but that it changed and thats why all this is happening now Its like if i said "heres $50" then you were like " " then i said "wait no, nvm", and you were like " " then later i said "oh yeah, heres that $50 from earlier but its at the bottom of a tiger pit, gl", and you were like " " then once you get mauled by tigers i pull you out of the den and be like "LOLs, i just be trollin, heres your $50" Overall though, it was pretty good If you just ignore that part | |

| i saw thor and it wasnt bad but to me he adjusted to earth too easily, there wasnt even any cheesy jokes about cars being steel demons or anything
the thing after the credits was niftyish
i also saw pirates and it was good but would have been better if they had tried less to be like the old ones
its like they wanted to go a different direction but were scared so they tried to fit in all the old money makers
going to go see kung fu panda 2 tonight woo! llol

| Yea I want to see thor and pirates. The lack of bad jokes is a good thing, we don't want another revenge of the fallen. And with pirates 4 i hear it's the best one after the 1st one of couse. | |

| i saw bridesmaids the other day. it was 1 of the funniest things ive ever seen. if you're being forced to go to a chick flick, this is actually a pretty good one. - Spoiler:
in my defense tho, i wanted to see thor
i also saw due date (on dvd) its not new, but it came out some time this year. it was also really funny, especially if you like zack galifinakas robert downy jr was also damn good

| x-men: first class was great
the first one was great, the second one was decent and the third was not terrible
origins was decent
except the girl mystique usually was running around as was pretty ugly, but luckily there were plenty of other scenes with girls in their underwear so it turned out alright
oh and there was some action stuff too

| whaaaaaaaat the plot of x-men first class was pretty good but the dialog was around the same level as the star wars 1-3 i hadn't seen any of the x-men in a few years so it was kinda fun figuring out who was who. but it wasnt quite fun enough to get the "want to kill yourself rather than watch the rest" taste out of your mouth im not even gonna talk about magneto as a kid raging - actually i lied i am:
so little magneto = jew in the middle of the holocaust a nazi scientist figures out he has powers over metal and then brings his mom in and shoots her to try and get him to use the powers. the mom dies and he goes into super rage mode.
following this he kills 2 nazi soldiers and wrecks the entire room (and adjacent torture chamber) but never once even tries to attack the guy who killed his mom and made him that mad. i dont know what they were smoking but whatever it was makes you retarded.
all that aside i enjoyed it =)

| the part that bugged me about the kid magneto raging was the kid was a terrible terrible actor - Spoiler:
he wasnt attacking the nazis or even had any control of his powers, he was just raging most of the metal was either crushed or randomly moved. he didnt deliberately target the 2 nazis they just had metal helmets
hugh jackman's lines were pretty good

| I had the opportunity to see bridesmaids but avoided it because of the name, but i have heard good things, i might watch it
The hangover 2 was almost exactly the same as the first movie, just a bit darker The ending (again, its always the ending) shouldve been darker, it wouldve worked and if they went that route i wouldve enjoyed it alot more, as it is its basically a copy and paste of the first movie
I really dont want to see x-men first class The last x-men movie was bad, and this one seems to be sorta the same kind of thing Maybe with even more retcon I might give it a chance because of what you guys are saying here (everyone i know doesnt want to see it for the same reason i dont, so i havent heard anything about it)

| I'm hearing from eveyone that it's amazing unlike X-men 3 and the first origens, which sucked. first class is at 87% on rotten tomatoes, and a 8.3 on imdb, so rating wise it's pretty good. | |

| I dont know about rotten tomatoes, but IMDB's ratings on recently released movies are always very high and they go down by th first week. | |

| from what i know about the definition of retcon there was only one thing in the movie that i felt was "retcon" and i think it was only retcon to origins so i guess its ok?
it was better telling the backstory for Xavier and magneto then they did for wolverine
origins for wolverine felt more of a standalone movie about wolverine where as first class felt more like a prequel for Xavier and magneto

| Retcon is when something that is already established previously in a story is changed or added to later on It can be good, but more often then not its bad Good retcon is usually referred to as a plot twist (but not all plot twists are retcon), it can also be good to retcon something that was bad
They retconned a ton of stuff in xmen origins, so much so that they needed to wipe wolverines memory so that it wouldnt retcon the first movie (cause if he remembered, the events in the xmen 1 wouldnt make sense)
If they didnt wipe his memory then i would see it as its own standalone thing (only because i wouldnt accept the first movie being retconned), but they did wipe his memory so that he would be like he was in the first movie, so it obviously isnt standalone
When the only way to get everything to mesh together with the story is to completely erase a characters memory, you know something went wrong with the writing

| what i meant by standalone was that it didnt feel like any kind of prequel, more like a side story
like in other media when a character that is normally a side character gets elaborated and gets their own book/movie/comic
i cant even remember what i was going to say or where i was going
basically go see first class, it was much better than origins or the 3rd movie

| It was supposed to be a prequel though, it has origins in the name And wolverine isnt a side character
And like i said before, i might give first class a chance cause of what you guys were saying

| first class wasn't a good movie it wasn't even a decent movie
it was an enjoyable movie however but if you're one of those people who need the movie to be good to feel justified in going to see it, then i wouldnt
otherwise you might as well dont take sarah to it though, she'll probably think its stupid
seriously just go to bridesmaids it was one of the funniest things ive seen in a long time

ScubaCat Secondly Hangover two wasn't bad, but what the fuck - Spoiler:

came out of no where lololol. There was also some obvious plot holes that didn't make sense - don't really need to go into detail. Going to go see the x-men movie probs soon lol

| so i just saw conan - Spoiler:
i laughed harder at the first 5 minutes than i did for the last week
and then the next 10 minutes were kinda cool the fighting was brutal and didn't feel super scripted
and then they did one of those "10 years later" things and everything suddenly became unbearably awful. i can't decide whether i hated the story or the characters more. even the combat stopped being cool when you noticed every time a fight started the enemies just lines up to get slaughtered down. it goes beyond they weren't thinking... it actually felt like they were trying to make things easier on conan. this'd be pretty tolerable unless you were banking on conan and the chick dying as much as i was.

| Captain America was good.. | |

| i thought Captain America was pretty good, but a few things mildly bugged me - Spoiler:
they never showed him receive special training, just your typical bootcamp yet he goes to save his friend and is suddenly superultrabadass
then they form his special team and he gets his signature shield and he can use it like a boomerang right off the bat?
also when he saved his friend and came back, that was the high point of the show it kinda petered down after that
