So i just found out that the legend of korra already started. 2 episodes so far. For those who don't know this show is a continuation of avatar the last airbender, but 100 years in the future.
First off Avatar the last airbender is easily one of my top 5 favorite TV shows. The story was awesome the characters where awesome and it had a very nice mood to it. (Btw the movie was probably the worst hunk o shit ive ever seen and should never be compared to the show).
Now for the legend of korra, in the show most of the old characters are dead and it's in a semi modern future.
Spoiler:
For some reason when i heard aang and co where dead i didn't really care, but when i heard sokka was dead too i was kinda sad for some reason...
The first episode was nothing incredible, i wasen't expecting it to be, juste meeting all the characters. Theres something in that episode that really pissed me off though
Spoiler:
They purposely broached the subject of Zuko's mom in the begining and they didn't explain anything.
The second episode was pretty good, there was some action, some love and some laugh out loud moments alredy. I didn't like the love though, coz it was too obvious.
Spoiler:
And that guy is clearly Zuko's son or something...
Anyways, i suggest you guys watch it, and if you haven't seen the Avatar the last airbender, WATCH IT. I know you might think it's ganna be incredibly childish since it's a kids show but it's REALLY REALLY GOOD!
Oh btw here's the trailer to The Legend of Korra

If we still had karma I would have given you some.
There are better shows out there than The Last Airbender... It isn't bad, but it isn't super freaking awesome.

Avatar the last airbender is better then one piece But as far as anime goes its average (one piece is also average, but less average then avatar the last airbender)
Although its not actually anime, its like some sort of cartoon/anime hybrid So only comparing it to anime isnt really fair
As far as cartoons go its really good I would put it up there with Batman the animated series, X-men (the first one), and Spider-man (the first one) Id go as far to say that avatar the last airbender is the best non-comedy cartoon of modern times (most modern non-comedy cartoons are terrible, but still)

What would u say is the best anime then. Id probably say Naruto, coz the entire story is like all tied together since the beginning (unless you watch the show with all it's fillers).

Having the story tie together isnt an example i would use to categorize something as being the best
Picking a best anime is harder because there are a lot of good ones If i had to pick one to call the best id pick Code Geass Maybe ill make something like a top 10 list later
Code Geass has pretty much everything you could want from an anime, including stuff you didnt know you wanted And it doesnt feel like any of it is unnecessary or that any of it doesnt belong Its story and characters are unique and interesting You should watch it when you get the chance

The look of the animation plays a major role in whether or not I'll watch an anime show. Code Geass has that stereotypical anime style which I really hate. I like the type of anime in Death Note, Bleach, and in the manga films by Hayao Miyazaki (his shits boss in tekkonkinkreet, that is a movie you should watch for sure)

edit: hate naruto right now all they do is have fillers after like 10 fillers they release two episodes that follow the manga then start fillers again

Lets do a comparison then These are all pics i took right directly from an episode of the series after i paused it on my media player and took a screenshot
Code Geass:
Death Note:
Bleach (new animation style):
Bleach (old animation style):
I couldnt find a scene in the older episodes where ichigo was sitting alone with the same type of expression as the others
If you dont include the last pic they are all the same I only put the last pic there because i wasnt sure which animation style you meant for bleach
The only difference between the first 3 pics is the eyes, Code Geass has bigger more detailed eyes that are less realistic But the eyes are important to the show, some of it wouldnt look right with the other smaller eyes You sound like a pretentious art student when you say stuff like the style is stereotypical and that you only enjoy certain styles that you havent really defined other then by being slightly different to what youve labeled as stereotypical
And Miyazaki films are in a league of their own when it comes to animation quality/style Death Note and Bleach look good, but i wouldnt put them as high up as Studio Ghibli's work

I'm not saying that I wouldn't watch the show because of it, it's just because of those key stylistic qualities I would not watch it unless someone refereed me to it. Anime eyes bother the hell out of me. As an artist it's just a lot of shit I see drawn every fucking day, it's an overused and overdone style. I'm not saying it doesn't work but I'm sick of seeing a huge fucking eyes on every portrait in art school, it kills me. So it's more about what I've seen as an artist and learned from the people who draw that way, so yeah I'm biased, but I'm well aware of it lol. I really love animation that is visually inventive, death note's story is a bad example for what I said above, I don't even watch death note.

Eyes like the ones in your examples bother me to, but those are much worse then how its done in Code Geass, especially the 2nd one, Code Geass is no where near that bad
And with the first one do the eyes really bother you the most in it? Im most bothered by the proportion of her hand/wrist, the one holding the book Her hands look like they are different sizes And the book itself bothers me too Also the eyes are poorly drawn in that one, it looks like they were just pasted on, so their size isnt really the main problem with them
Also Death Note and Bleach both have characters that are drawn with big eyes
You can see it on Orihime in the last pic i posted They got even bigger with the newer animation style (thats not all that got bigger):
And Misa from Death Note:
Usually its young girls in anime that are given large eyes because big eyes convey youth and cheerfulness where as small eyes convey seriousness or age So thats why its overused as you say, it tells you a little bit about the character with just a glance Thats also the reason why hair styles and colors make little sense in anime, most of the time
Just because people in your school draw big eyes all the time doesnt make it bad in every context Saying that would be like if you were to know everyone in your school was having sex and then saying sex sucks because its being done by everyone

The last part of your sentence doesnt make sense to me Death Note's story has no connection to the characters eye size (neither does bleach), and the characters eyes are of normal size (except Misa's and some of the other girls), so i dont see how its a bad example
Although Death Note does use the eye color (and hair color) to show L and Light as being opposites I said Code Geass has a reason for larger eyes (other then the one i just said in this post), since the eyes are used to show Geass power Both can be said to have been visually inventive, so you probably shouldn't judge or make opinions without actually seeing something first

I mean, I can't even say that I know what the animation on the show looks like.
All I did to look up code geass was look it uo on google images. It looked like Yu-gi-oh at first glance lol.
i mean comon, look it up on google images and then look up Bleach or one piece.
If you've never seen code geass before and you see the yu-gi-oh dude in the same image with some robots you're instantly going to think "oh a show about magical robots" who the fuck wants to watch a show where robots are magical. That was my reasoning, deal with it lol.

Well watch the show before saying it sucks There are no magical robots
Also what would be wrong with a show involving magical robots I actually cant think of any anime that has giant magical robots, one where the robot actually uses the magic There is 1 i can think of where the robots are powered by magic, called Break Blade, which isnt bad But i dont generally watch giant robot fighting anime
In fact, years ago, i was like you The way you say "magical robots suck no matter what" or "big eyes suck and i will never watch a show that has big eyes", I was like that with anime involving giant mechs So i would always dismiss an anime that had giant mechs in it as being bad without ever giving it a chance (this includes Code Geass) One day i gave it a chance (starting with Code Geass) and while giant mechs still arent my favorite there are some shows that i like involving them (the ones where the giant robot isnt the focus of the show)

code geass is great so is avatar the last airbender but in a very different way even though the story telling is just as good i even like bleach, one piece and naruto but kinda in the same way that i like dubstep (and i love dubstep) but of those id definitely go with code geass for my personal favorite even if i appreciate avatar just as much... amaz if at all possible you should sack up and watch a few episodes.

I don't know why i haven't gone around to this but here is my short review of season 1
I think season 1 was really good (especially the music). One thing ruined everything for me though.
Spoiler:
At the very end when she's crying on the cliff. I thought if they ended the show there it woulda been the perfect dark ending to the show. EVERYTHING that happened after that was stupid. Season 2 coulda been like her learning to master airbending and finding a way to restore other peoples bending, but instead everything just becomes better in 1 shot. I was really disappointed.

the last fight was also pretty disappointing. she suddenly learns to air bend and amon becomes helpless. she should have at least went into avatar state to finish it instead of throwing two puffs of air and winning

2nd season of this show started. I'm up to date, its nothing incredible, they seem to want to shove as much crap in there as possible, and they seem to have too much characters and they dont know what to do with them. But they managed to keep me interested. It might just be a build up though, theres a lot of random character development, so perhaps stuff will happen

i like the second season so far. it hasnt been edge of your seat gripping or anything but at the same time itd just feel cheap if they came up with some major issue that made it that way.
Spoiler:
youre right though that its nothing blindingly amazing but hopefully theyre setting the stage for something more interesting with the whole 1st avatar thing
