Server Reset

So the server is going to reset a few days after the first stable release of bukkit.

because they're as far from stable as it gets. we learned the hard way last time that you should wait till the bukkit server is stable before generating worlds, so this time we're gonna do it right... and a few days isn't a big deal. especially when we all have shit to do anyways.

I was planning to do a giant competition with a bunch of elaborate mini games like in the gauntlet with rewards for the next update, but I wasn't counting on sprint movement (which breaks a lot of the games)
so instead we're going to do something else and i can go cry in a corner over the amount of games gone to waste
the day before we start work on the new server (probably saturday but very possibly not if the stable ver isn't out by then) anyone who logs on will get tnt.
they can then use the tnt (and anymore they might have) on any building of their making and blow that shit up.
depending on how many people play, there will be a prize(s)
not to mention the fun of getting back at minecraft for eating your life.

I'll post a time and amount of tnt to be given soonish



also, if anyone can find em, there are 4 artifacts up for grabs in the mob trap pat made.
they're not very exciting but they are one of a kind for whoever (besides pat and backseat) can find them.

of course it wouldn't be very accurate if there wasn't a time lapse
i guess that depends on the person though

Make the new hubworld a Giant Golden Penis.

It would be so massive and huge that you wouldn't be able see that it was a Giant Golden Cock from where you spawn.
That's how epic it would be.

sadly i've already got a design for the new hub
doubly sadly i can't finish it (its like 25% done) because the unstable bukkit update broke the warp plugin (allowing you to transfer to different worlds)
so you're stuck with the same old hub for awhile longer :'(

1.9 pre release is out already, maybe should wait till they are done updating

1.9 has nether dungeons and new nether blocks
They added these weird villagers to, they just walk around and serve no purpose, and they all have the same name, its creepy

They are adding all this stuff but not stopping to fix bugs
Villages in 1.9 still dont spawn roads properly, doors are 20 feet in the air or are buried under gravel still
And abandoned mines still generate in areas where theres a ravine or underground cavern making it appear as if its just floating there

yeah, it seems likely that 1.9 will need a fresh world gen
i don't really see the point because its main thing (geography-wise) is making the npc AI non-retarded (which i dont care about (except when i'm in a pillage n rape kinda mood(which is only once or twice a week)))
but since i'm guessing a lot of people like this type of thing, im outta luck

why:

so last time around i said that this was gonna be a pvp thing... and well that didn't happen at all

this time its going to be a pvp thing and thats all there is going to be.
the season will last 1.5-2 months (till 1.9 comes out)
everyone will start with the following:
1 iron block
10 arrows
1 bow
1 iron sword
1 diamond

rules:
don't kill someone who just joins the world, especially before they get their pvp package
don't spawn camp somebody (find their respawn and then repeatedly kill them)
don't abuse admin powers (for any personal gain)
don't use mods of any kind

i doubt i even need to say this, since commonsense says that if no one mods, everyone has more fun, but i'd rather clarify now then later.

breaking any of these gets you banned from pvp
i know a lot of you (especially pat) have mods
if several people are reasonably (by my judgement) suspicious of you cheating, you'll get banned.

yah of course

it just doesn't make sense to have a smp map for 2 months
and probably not even 2 months

everyone would spend like 25% of that time mining too.
there's just not enough time for it and i think its nice to change things up
and pvp is gonna be a lot different than smp ^_^

i think there will be very limited mods
so far the only one that will definitely be there is
mmorpg (skills will be reset)
portcullis/bridge (although there is very limited point of both)
