Black Bullet is a new distopian-future type anime.

Rentaro, a boy living near Tokyo and member of the "Civil Security"—an organization specializing in fighting against the Gastrea—is used to accomplishing dangerous tasks. His partner is Enju, a precocious young girl. They fight thanks to their peculiar powers until one day, when they receive a special assignment from the government. This top secret mission is to prevent the destruction of Tokyo...
Set in a near future, this thrilling heroic-action story... starts now!
if you're got an "attack on titan" vibe from that you'd be pretty spot on. the key difference can be seen in the level of gritty. Black Bullet is a lot less gritty. The supervillains could be from Marvel, and, yeah, the Gastrea might be a bit scary but they aren't titan-level-terrifying the story has so far focused on a main character combo (very reminiscent of "Machine Doll") but that might change. it'd be cool if it did, like if the story started out dark but not no main-character immunity dark and then just took that idea away

I had thought about watching this, but the description was so similar to attack on titan that i figured they were just copying attack on titan to try to cash in on its popularity, then i watched the OP and from 0:06-0:12 its copying attack on titans OP a lot, but then suddenly they are like "ok thats enough i think people get that we are copying them so lets do our own thing" then at the end theres a little reminder
So since they seem to be self aware that they are copying attack on titan and are admitting to it, and since the idea of a futuristic attack on titan does appeal to me i decided that i would watch it after a few eps were out
Ill start watching it once ep 5 or 6 is out

that's probably a good way to do it
ep 3 just came out my overall feeling with this show has consistently been "whoa this might actually be really goo... nvm"
i don't think the show actually knows where it wants to be. if you watch 5 or 6 at once it might be easier to ignore it

i watched the first 3 episodes and i thought it was pretty good so far. i liked episode 2 the most out of the 3. episode 3 made me wonder where the show is gonna go like you said, but i think it has alot of potential to be pretty good.
episode 4 preview:
Spoiler:
the preview showed them saying that rentaro was the only way they could save the world. i dont really like that because it sounds like theyll make some magical story up about rentaro being like hidden super op or something
overall i think itll at least be good for a bunch of episodes and it might turn into a not-so-good anime later on like most do from my experience in watching animes like attack on titan, hunter x hunter, and 2nd half of death note (altho these that i mentioned didnt become terrible, they just seemed to run out of ideas or just started to fall off a little bit in their epicness)

So ive seen all the episodes that are out for this (ep 6) and its different enough from attack on titan for me to not consider it to be a "futuristic attack on titan"
However, it takes elements from attack on titan, and elements from like a dozen other anime, the best way to describe it is an amalgamation of various popular anime (all thats missing is a mech suit of some sort, and it wouldnt surprise me to see a mech suit of some sort at some point before the end)
What youre both saying goes back to that fact, its trying to be so many different things that it doesnt have an identity of its own, and because of that it will probably be disappointing in the end
All that said, i am enjoying it so far, my main complaint is the amount of loli it has, the loli levels are off the scale None of the cursed children
tangent:
Why are they called cursed children if they are all girls, wouldnt calling them the cursed girls make more sense, even if you say "maybe they didnt know they would all be girls when they came up with the name" that is possible but eventually they wont be children anymore so "children" was a terrible choice either way, naming committees need to look toward the future and come up with a timeless name for these kinds of things
Anyway, as i was saying, none of the cursed children act like children
Spoiler:
Enju kindve does, sometimes, sortve but not really I get that theyve had hard lives as outcasts that would toughen them up, but still, they speak and act too much like adults It wouldnt bother me too much if it wasnt being used as the excuse that makes the loli ok Wait, i should explain some stuff first in case you guys dont know
Loli refers to girls that look to be 12 and under in anime, theres 2 types of loli in anime (not counting hentai), loli moe and loli ecchi Loli moe will have little girls being cute in a fun/innocent kind of way, usually they are made to be like a little sister (and may literally be the main characters little sister, but it doesnt have to be) Loli ecchi will have little girls being cute in an erotic/sensual kind of way, talking about boobs or wearing pajamas that are kindve falling off for example, in anime that has loli ecchi theres always an excuse which is supposed to make it less creepy, like a pretense that must be maintained in order to make loli ecchi ok (the excuse that i was talking about), most of the time the characters real age will be 18ish and she will just look 12 or less, another way to do it is to make the girl not human (like a machine or a vampire or something)
Here its loli ecchi and at first the excuse was "they arent human" and it also explained why they acted so much like adults, but then the show convinced me that they are human and everything fell apart So now the excuse is that they act more adult then a normal 10 year old and that they act that way because they had a hard life, so it just doesnt work, even if you believe a 10 year old girl would act that way after having a hard life (which i am willing to accept, even if i dont think they would act that adult) then the loli cant be ok since she is just a little girl that was subjected to terrible things so theres this conflict where if i accept it the loli level is unacceptable and if i dont the loli level is too high and the girls act too adult
I think they tried to do what Elfen Lied did with its loli, but in elfen lied it was brutal enough for me to not consider it loli ecchi so it avoided this problem They fell short on the brutality here, either it needs to tone down the loli or viciously/graphically rip a little girl to shreds, preferably both

Just saw ep 7 and wow, yeah i kindve agree with you now Not even a little girl being brutally ripped apart like i was saying would redeem this now, the ending to ep 7 ruined everything
Im going to keep watching it though, its like a train wreck where you know you shouldnt watch but you cant look away

After ep 8 and 9 i was going to make a post along the lines of "I want to like this world/story but the show is making it really hard by sabotaging itself constantly"
But after ep 10 im conflicted
Ep 10:
In any other show id think this episode was really good, and at first i was considering this episode to be the episode that could redeem the show But it was just too obvious, not in a "i saw it coming" way, but in a "these kids existed solely to die and make the audience feel sad so the show can have a big emotional moment" kind of way and thinking about it like that makes it lose any emotion this episode may have had for me And i cant help thinking of it like that since thats just how it feels when its put in with the rest of what this anime has done up to this point
The conflict is; i cant tell if the show is actually like that or if im just being cynical
