Magi the anime. What are your thoughts? Love it, hate it and is it worth to keep going. I'm right now on episode 20 and going slowly because i want to wait for the english dubs.

s2 the best

i started this over the weekend because of this topic and wow what a waste man. im up to episode 14 or so, so maybe it get's better, but so far the plot barely passes as one dimensional. so far it's just been blandddd.
but! the show becomes muuuch better as a drinking game with friends! here's how it goes
every time something truly stupid happens someone can go "driiiiiink": everyone drinks
every time there's a (new) reference to an arabian tale: everyone drinks
first person to call the "secret" identity of any character: make someone drink three times
first person to call what happens next (when it's not super obvious): make someone drink five times

...i suggest beer

i'll probably finish it this week bc i hate dropping stories unless theyre really fantastically bad. does it get any better? any less bland / predictable?

edit: a few hours after i wrote this i feel like maybe i was a bit harsh. i dont know why i kinda enjoy it despite all of the above, but i do

ok expanding on my s2 the best post:

if you're watching season one i'd agree with most of your points

they began to deviate from the manga but got back on track, and i was tempted to drop it while season one was airing.

but season 2 the best.
i lied i didn't expand on it but season 2 is much better than season 1

so i finished magi season 2. i actually marathoned it until 3am this morning because apparently i hate being awake during work. so that's a pretty good sign for the anime. hlw's right, it's way better than season 1. season 2 i'd give either an 8.5 overall.

the plot / characters / writing are so much better that it's actually a solid anime worth watching. the second season that is, you should definitely still skip 75% of the first season to get there

Damn WTF you breezed through it like potato salad (whatever that means). Iv'e been watching it slow, because school is a thing. So far, i don't really like how much of a super good guy alibaba is. But i like the rest, its not perfect though. I'm on episode 5 right now.

apparently i was wrong
i thought season 2 was over cuz ep 20 seemed so final and had one of those season cliff hanger feels, but apparently its still going at an ep a week, airs every sunday around 5pm

how do you even remember the names of characters like that? he has a scar over one eye and a troubled past. in a japanese anime, details like that are like camouflage
i like that he isnt as goodygoody as aladin or babs. in season 1 he was cool because he was the first. the hipster of the morally grey zone. but now in season 2 you've got alternatives. sinny and dumbledore are both like that and are way more interesting and way less whiny

Seriously that guy just cried the whole time about how useless he was wtf it was so annoying. Also hes like the most unimportant and irrelevant character ever and his power is kinda dumb. Besides if you want characters that arent good/nice and troubled what about kassim hes like way cooler

well I mean my point is it IS better than the typical semi important person that is scarred for life because of some treason and swears to get his revenge on his evil mother/father that nobody thinks is evil but actually wants the world to plunge into darkness.
