howto fix can't host/join bot games

i was gonna send this as a pm to mark since i know he needs it, but someone else might want it too.

if you can't host or join someone else's bot then most likely its because the ports warcraft uses are blocked. for ex mark used to be able to host and join bot games fine, but now he got a new router and can't. basically the router chooses what it allows to pass through to your computer. what we're gonna do is tell it to let everything from warcraft through.

to make sure that this is the right guide for you, download and install this and then run it. when it asks what port you want to check, enter in 6112 for the port number and either tcp or udp for the protocol. click checkme and if it says "Your port is NOT open or not reachable!" then keep reading.

the easiest way to fix the problem is to go:

and follow the guide for whatever router you have. the model number for your router is probably on a white sticker on the bottom of it. the brand of the router is probably in big letters somewhere on the case. find the right brand of router in the list first and then look for your model (since different brands can have the same model name)

if you still don't know what the model number looks like, find the brand first and then look through the list at the different model #'s compare them to the stuff on your router.

after you click the link for your router and skip an add, you're brought to a list of games... click warcraft 3

follow the steps on the guide.

most routers have the same basic formula for port forwarding, so if you can't do the stuff above try this (don't do both though)
